Birch stone is a smooth, even-grained hardwood, mostly off-white with some brown variation, creating a calico appearance. Birch cabinets with a wiping stain may not have consistent color. The ends of the stiles in the raised panel will be darker than the rest of the door. The cross-grain profile will also have a darker appearance. Additionally, the face frame, doors, and drawer fronts can exhibit different colors. This variation is desired for a “rustic” look. In paint finishes, the grain will telegraph through, which is normal and not a defect.
